Celebrate Life Season 2020-21

When times are hard and it’s difficult to imagine a light at the end of the tunnel we put our heads down, dig our heels in, and forge ahead—and rarely take a moment to look back. Looking back at times like that is often too difficult, too painful. It reminds us of things that we’ve lost. But in this moment as we are emerging on the other side of the tunnel, we can raise our eyes up to the sun, look to the future and breathe in a sigh of relief.
Now is the time to look back over our shoulder and remind ourselves of where we have come from, while we simultaneously set our eyes on the future. The plays that I have chosen for this upcoming season lean on the traditions of the past while asking us questions the challenge our understanding of what the future may bring. Pieces that entertain and allow us to laugh, and love, and see the humanity in one another and also pieces that ask us to take a hard look at who we are as a society and where we are going. I hope that you will join me on this journey this year.

—Jonathan Rhys Williams,
Executive Artistic Director, The Tabard Theatre Company

by Neil Simon

Neil Simon’s classic comedy is still just as hilarious as it ever was. When Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak news writer, is thrown out by his wife, moving in with his also-divorced best friend Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter, seems like an ideal plan. However, it does not take long for the pair’s catastrophic incompatibility to come crashing down on their lives, to hilarious effect.

“Wildly, irresistibly, incredibly and continuously funny.”
